My Chairman, the Dean, senior assistant registrar, senior hall tutor, invited guest, outgoing executives, the media, Fellow students, Ladies and Gentlemen; I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust and confidence reposed in us. My singular appreciation to God almighty for successful elections.
I also sieze this very opportunity to thank President Raphael and his administration for the service to us the students and the school at large as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.
Leadership is like a stage, one come to perform, leaves and another take over. Mr Chairman, I am so mindful of the huge responsibility ahead and the sacrifices required. So it has been; so it must be with this generation of our time. On this day, we gather because we have chosen to take our destinies in our own hands; thus hope for tomorrow.
We remain a young institution. But in the words of scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things and come to affirm our enduring spirit towards making this school indeed the “the icon of the nation” , “the light, the pride and the beacon of development”.
Mr Chairman, as student body, our capacity remains undiminished; we as student leadership are ever ready to collaborate with the authority in all manner of affairs that are practically geared towards the general wellbeing of the student body. ALL ABOUT US MATTER.
We will effectively engage with all stakeholders as to where and when it matters, seeking to address security issues, creating conducive environment for effective teaching and learning, capacity building, sports and entertainment and above all securing our future now!
Mr Chairman, the task ahead is challenging, but with unity, tenacity and sense of purpose, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Our challenges may be new, the instruments with which we meet may be new, But those values upon which our success depends; honesty and hard work, courage and fair play, loyalty and respect. The society, being it international, national or our local communities are losing trust in leadership. This call for the youth as a matter of urgency to build ourselves up with the spirit of commitment, ethics, values and principles so that we can be sure of the future.
Mr Chairman, invited guests, ladies and gentlemen, in conclusion, in my capacity as the central src president, I congratulate the president elect of Nyankpala campus, Hon. Kofi Anane Nuakoh and his executives whilst wishing my brothers in Wa and Navrongo a peaceful elections. To the entire student body, good luck in the forthcoming exams and lastly to the outgoing executives, I say good work done, “Mo ne adwuma”, “Nantuma pam”.
Thank you and God bless u all. Long Live UDS!, Long Live Ghana!!
